Unseen pictures of Gianni Versace

Donatella Versace earlier today posted a couple of snaps, smiling with her brother Gianni Versace on her official Instagram account as a remembrance of his death as well as all their happy memories since childhood.

Italian fashion designer, Giovanni Maria “Gianni” Versace, was the founder of the luxury, high-end brand, ‘Versace’ and after his death, Donatella Francesca Versace inherited a portion of this international fashion label and became the new head of design.

On 15 July 1997, today, Gianni Versace was shot outside his Miami Beach mansion which was closely witnessed by his UK stylist, Dean Aslett, who partied and stayed with Gianni in his beach house. The 50-year-old was assassinated by Andrew Cunanan who committed suicide 8 days after Versace’s murder. There also has been a television series dedicated to Gianni’s assassination, “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” which is based on Maureen Orth’s book, “Vulgar Favors: The Assassination of Gianni Versace”.

Donatella captioned the post and wrote, “We always made each other smile. Gianni, I miss you every day Gianni Versace, 2 December 1946- 15 July 1997” Her Instagram page often has posts of Gianni with heart-warming captions which show the love that she had for her brother.

“This picture was taken exactly 25 years ago in Modena, Italy. Gianni and I attended a charity concert- feels like yesterday” captioned Donatella on June 13, 2021.

On December 2, 2020, she dedicated a birthday post to Gianni and wrote, “Today is my brother Gianni’s birthday. Not a day goes by where I don’t think of him. Happy Birthday Gianni”

The Italian sibling designer duo could have changed the fashion industry with their combined talent but the tragedy of a fashion icon being murdered brutally while he was enjoying his vacation time in his personal space with his friends is poignantly unfair and one of the most famous cases during the late 90’s because it was also the largest failed manhunt in the U.S. history.

“This was New York, Jan 28, 1995. Here I am with my brother Gianni and Elton. We were attending a charity event to raise funds for Elton John’s Aids Foundation.

Elton was one of the very first to be bold enough to stand up and do something to battle the AIDS crisis. My brother was bold enough to be one of the first to come out and publicly support him.

Two truly great men. I am blessed to still have Elton as my friend and to have had a brother like Gianni.” Wrote Donatella in her Instagram post. She lost her beloved brother but the world lost a true fashion icon as well as a philanthropist.

“Gianni that night was my stylist. I couldn’t give my opinion on one thing. He chose my clothes, my hair, my makeup, and my jewelry. I didn’t have a say in ANYTHING!

The bondage top, the leather skirt, and tall black boots with gold chains were all from our fall 92 collection, entitled “Miss S&M”!” captioned Donatella which also portrays the nature of progressiveness and edginess, Gianni had even in 1993.
