AAP MLAs thank Kejriwal government for being pro-farmer by passing resolution against agriculture laws
Chandigarh, July 31 The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has strongly criticized the political maneuvers being played by the ruling Congress on anti-agriculture laws and appealed to the Congress leaders, not to go astray on the anti-agriculture laws and take a clear stand in favor of ‘annadatas’. This is because the Captain Amarinder Singh government’s collusion with the Modi government and its manipulation in the Punjab Assembly in the name of amending the Central Agriculture Laws had already left no stone unturned in undermining the farmers’ movement.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Saturday, AAP Kisan Wing state president and MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the questions raised by the Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu about Captain Amarinder Singh’s amendment to the Centre’s black laws on agriculture through the Punjab Vidhan Sabha; has sealed the fact that Captain has misled the farmers and Punjab by making a drama in the Assembly at the behest of Modi.
Sandhwan alleged the Congress had adopted a two-pronged policy on agricultural laws from the very beginning. “First, Captain misled the people in the Vidhan Sabha by pretending to amend the Central laws and now Navjot Singh Sidhu is trying to mislead the people once again by calling a special session of the Vidhan Sabha to repeal the centre’s farm laws,” he said.
The AAP leader said if the state assemblies had the power to repeal the central laws, the farmers of the country would not have had to take a firm stand against the Modi government on the borders of Delhi and they would have staged dharnas in Chandigarh along with the state capitals and would have get this work done by the state governments. Sandhwan said the state governments could only send a message of dissent and support to the farmers by passing resolutions in the Assembly against the agriculture laws; but cannot repeal the central laws.
