SkilloFab and IG Drones have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a ‘Drone Centre of Excellence’. It complies with the provisions of the recently drafted National Education Policy, which has expanded the scope for imparting information about drone technology through vocational courses for various age groups.

Both sides have agreed to collaborate and align training infrastructure as part of this MoU to up-skill rural youth and make them industry ready to cope with the current technological breakthroughs. With a new drone ecosystem in place and a fresh wave of 10 million trained young on the way, India will soon be the world’s Drone Hub.

SkilloFab was established to uplift the rural people in all aspects of life, such as capacity building, rural employment generation and livelihood, etc., by upskilling the rural youth. It promotes participative-cum-partnership collaboration with industrial fronts and organisations like IG Drones, which provides enterprise drone solutions and pan-India training to ensure active participation in the industry.

The MoU was signed between Er. Bimal Mishra, Director, SkilloFab and Er. Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, CEO, IG Drones, on the auspicious occasion of the Vijaya Dashami on Oct 15, which beamed a new varsity into the drone ecosystem in India.

According to a PwC analysis published in January 2020, India is the world’s fastest-growing drone market, with sales expected to reach $885 million by 2021. It is also predicted to reach $1,810 million by FY 2026, representing a 14.61 per cent CAGR.

The Central Government has progressively begun to utilise Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to promote improved governance, from surveillance, disaster management to assisting search efforts. Drones played a critical part in regulating the situation in several ways during the peak of the pandemic.

Aligned with the government missions, Skill India and Atma Nirbhar Bharat, this centre will up-skill the rural youth in the Drone Sector and help them empower and gain skills in drone and allied technology. IG Drones Centre of Excellence (CoE) is a programme that aims to educate over 10 million pupils about the latest drone technology and increase capacity. IG Drones skill development programmes aim to make India self-sufficient and bring about a dramatic paradigm change in making India the world’s next Drone Hub.

India’s drone industry is catching up to that of other countries and gaining significant traction. According to 6Wresearch, the Indian UAV market is expected to develop at a CAGR of 18% in revenue from 2017 to 23.

According to Om Prakash Das, Co-founder of IG Drones, “IG Drones will share the knowledge and technology to up-skill the rural youth who possess immense capabilities to prove in the ongoing Industrial Revolution 4.0. The centre will create employment opportunities for thousands of youths & will increase drone entrepreneurs in rural areas.”

It is critical to educate the Indian young about drone technology to equip them with the necessary knowledge and resources. The best way to do this is through a Centre of Excellence. The Drone CoE promotes upskilling and teaches the youth how to make drones and afterwards use them for inspection, survey, monitoring by cooperating with technical institutes like SkilloFab. The CoE serves a vital role in increasing students’ industrial awareness & providing placement chances in the same sector, providing them with vital skills, and nurturing them with future-ready skills.
